Bacolod SP session rescheduled to today due to work suspension

BACOLOD City – The regular session of the Sangguniang Panlungsod (SP) in Bacolod City has been rescheduled to today, October 2, instead of its usual Wednesday schedule or yesterday, October 1.

Acting Vice Mayor Caesar Distrito (No. 1 SP Member) announced the change following Mayor Greg Gasataya’s Executive Order No. 057 issued on the evening of September 30, which suspended classes at all levels and government work in the city on October 1 due to the earthquake that struck around 10 p.m. the same day.

“Considering that government offices were suspended, we had no legislative staff available,” Distrito explained.

After consulting with several councilors, Distrito confirmed that Wednesday’s SP session would be held today at 10 a.m. at the SP Session Hall.

Distrito assumed the post of acting vice mayor effective October 1, as Vice Mayor Claudio Jesus Puentevella is on personal domestic travel. His designation was based on Memorandum Order No. 016-2025 issued by Puentevella on September 30.

Distrito is serving his first term as city councilor starting June 2025. He previously served three terms as a city councilor and held local leadership positions, including Sangguniang Kabataan chairman and punong barangay of Barangay Singcang-Airport./PN
