ILOILO – A 45-year-old teacher was shot and killed on Tuesday, September 30, while inside his sport utility vehicle in Barangay Punong Grande, Dueñas town.
Police said alias “Richard”, a teacher in Passi City, succumbed to a gunshot wound in the head.
Initial investigation revealed that the victim was driving his car with his two children onboard on their way home to Barangay Punong Grande when the incident occurred at around 5:15 p.m. An unidentified gunman suddenly came out of a sugarcane field and shot the victim. His children were unharmed.
In a local radio interview with Police Captain Francis John Layog, chief of the Dueñas Municipal Police Station, the assailant fled on a motorcycle after the incident.
As of this writing, Layog said they have yet to determine the motive of the shooting incident.
Dueñas police’s investigation was ongoing as they continued to gather evidence and identify the gunman./PN
