MANILA – Malacañang sought to project confidence despite a decline in President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr.’s trust ratings, saying the latest Social Weather Stations (SWS) survey still reflected Filipinos’ continued faith in his leadership and anti-corruption drive.
Palace Press Officer Claire Castro on Wednesday welcomed the SWS results showing that 43 percent of adult Filipinos expressed “much trust” in the President — a five-point drop from 48 percent in June 2025.
“Ang Pangulong Marcos Jr. ay nakikita natin na tunay na nagtatrabaho at kumakalaban sa korapsyon,” Castro said. “Walang humpay para umangat ang buhay ng bawat Pilipino sa gitna ng mga kalamidad na kinakaharap natin.”
The same poll, conducted from September 24 to 30, revealed that 36 percent of respondents had “little trust” in Marcos, while 21 percent were undecided.
Castro stressed that Marcos does not dwell on survey figures but draws motivation from the perception that his administration is responsive to public needs.
“Mulat na ang mga mata ng mga mamamayan kung sino ba talaga ang tunay na nagtatrabaho at nagmamalasakit sa kanila at hindi ‘yung pansariling interest lang ang iniisip,” she said.
The release of the survey results came as the Independent Commission for Infrastructure (ICI) — a body formed by Marcos earlier this year — investigates alleged irregularities in flood control projects across the country.
The administration’s handling of such probes has drawn scrutiny amid concerns that corruption and inefficiency continue to plague infrastructure spending, an area where Marcos has vowed reform and transparency./PN
