ILOILO – The Iloilo Provincial Treasurer’s Office has warned property owners with unpaid real property taxes to settle their obligations before the July 5, 2026 deadline of the ongoing Real Property Tax (RPT) amnesty, or risk having their properties auctioned off.
Provincial Treasurer Jean Maire Umadhay emphasized that the amnesty offers a crucial opportunity for delinquent taxpayers to clear their arrears without penalties.
“They only pay the principal because penalties, surcharges, and interests are erased under the tax amnesty,” she said.
The program, implemented under Republic Act 12001 or the Real Property Valuation and Assessment Reform Act (RPVARA), allows payments to be made in full or through installment until the deadline.
Property owners can settle their dues either at their respective municipal treasurer’s offices or at the Bayad Center located in the Iloilo Provincial Capitol.
Umadhay warned that after the amnesty period lapses, the provincial government will resume imposing penalties — two percent per month, capped at 72 percent — and will begin auction proceedings against properties that remain delinquent.
“After the real property tax amnesty, we will schedule the auction of properties that did not avail of the amnesty,” she stressed.
Meanwhile, she noted that the province will continue collecting RPT based on old assessments after the Sangguniang Panlalawigan approved an ordinance suspending the scheduled tax increase earlier this week.
Umadhay added that any adjustments will depend on revisions to be introduced under the RPVARA law in 2028, which could further impact the computation of property taxes./PN
