BACOLOD City – Assistance continues to flow in Bacolod City and Negros Occidental in the aftermath of Typhoon “Tino,” in the form of both food packs and cash aid.
Provincial officials, led by Provincial Administrator Atty. Rayfrando Diaz, convened at Negros Residences in Bacolod to discuss updates on damage assessments and ongoing rescue and relief operations in affected local government units (LGUs) outside the city.
The Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office (PSWDO) continues to distribute food packs and hygiene kits to evacuees across the province.
Mayor Greg Gasataya assured Bacolod residents of ongoing support, saying, “To every Bacolodnon finding their way through the aftermath, know that you are not facing this on your own. Our relief operations continue. We will reach you, and we will not stop until Bacolod stands whole again.”
The provincial government has also been distributing potable water to LGUs experiencing shortages, while a private water refilling station in Bacolod provided free drinking water due to power outages affecting water supply.
Meanwhile, the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) – Negros Island Region (NIR) announced that it is providing P10,000 in cash aid per casualty to the immediate families of victims.
As of November 6, the death toll stands at 44, with La Castellana reporting the highest number of fatalities (12), followed by Hinigaran (7), Bago City (6), Moises Padilla (6), La Carlota City (4), San Carlos City (3), Murcia (2), and one death each in Isabela, Pontevedra, Binalbagan, and Himamaylan City.
In Bacolod City, the DSWD, through the office of Lone District Congressman Alfredo Abelardo Benitez, began distributing food assistance to barangays on Friday, November 7./PN
