Construction worker yields P1.7-M ‘shabu’

ILOILO City – About 250 grams of suspected shabu valued at approximately P1.7 million were confiscated from a construction worker during a buy-bust operation in Barangay Calahunan, Mandurriao district.

Police identified the suspect as alias “Toto”, 36 years old, and resident of Mandurriao.

He was apprehended at around 9:55 p.m. on Wednesday, November 5. Seized from his possession were 11 heat-sealed transparent plastic sachets and four knot-tied transparent plastic bags containing suspected shabu, buy-bust money, and non-drug-related items.

The joint operation was carried out by the Iloilo City Police Office’s City Drug Enforcement Unit (CDEU), Police Station 5 – Station Drug Enforcement Team and Special Weapons and Tactics Team; and the Philippine National Police’s Drug Enforcement Group – Special Operations Unit 6 and Regional Intelligence Unit 6.

The suspect was detained at the Police Station 5. He will be charged for violation of Sections 5 and 11 of Article II of the Republic Act 9165, otherwise known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002. These offenses carry a penalty of life imprisonment to death and a fine ranging from P500,000 to P10 million./PN
