Father of slain girl pleads for justice as probe widens

ILOILO — The grieving father of a seven-year-old girl found dead inside a sack in Barangay Tampucao, Lambunao town is urging authorities to fast-track the investigation.

The police recently confirmed strangulation as the cause of death, and continued to pursue seven persons of interest.

The victim was discovered on November 8, 2025 with a ligature mark on her neck.

Initial autopsy findings also noted signs of possible sexual assault.

Her father said his family is devastated and appealed for immediate action from law enforcement to bring accountability for his daughter’s death.

“Gusto ya nga indi ako mag ubra. Ti, ang sabat ko ka na, kon di ako mag ubra, ano ipakaon ko ka na. Namilit gid ako nga mag ubra. Gusto na makatapos pag eskwela… mag pulis o doktor,” Losares said.

He added in Kinaray-a: “It hurts deeply to lose my only child under such tragic circumstances.”

“Hustisya gid. Isa ka bilog malang na ang bata ko, tapos amo pa na abutan na… ang pag asa ko sa awtoridad lang nga malutas ang kaso,” the father added in Kinaray-a, noting he has no idea who may have harmed her.

The Lambunao police confirmed that seven individuals are currently considered persons of interest, though no formal charges have been filed. Investigators are conducting interviews, gathering physical evidence, and awaiting full forensic results.

The crime has left the community shaken, prompting renewed calls for stronger child protection and safety measures, especially in remote farming barangays.

The girl’s remains were brought home on November 14 as the family prepared for her burial./PN
