IN A VIBRANT celebration of community spirit and empowerment, the Zonta Club Metro Iloilo has launched its highly anticipated annual Zonta Christmas Bazaar, officially opening its doors on Monday, November 17, at the Fountain Area of Robinsons Place Iloilo.
This cherished event, now stands over 22 years, is not only a festive gathering but also a crucial fundraising effort aimed at supporting projects that empower women and combat violence against women and children.
The bazaar kicked off with a ribbon-cutting ceremony, led by past presidents Dr. Sandra S. Gomez and Grace Blair, alongside the dedicated current president Angela Abenir, Christmas Bazaar committee chairperson Malsy Tinsay, and other enthusiastic members of the Zonta Club Metro Iloilo.
Their collective commitment to creating a safer, more supportive community for all is evident in their tireless efforts.
“This event isn’t just a marketplace; it’s a lifeline,” expressed Abenir. “For over 22 years, our bazaar has raised essential funds for various outreach programs. We focus on projects like ‘Responsible Nanay,’ where we provide support and education to empower mothers and prevent violence against women and children. Every peso collected from this bazaar directly benefits these crucial initiatives.”
This year’s bazaar promises to outshine its predecessors, featuring over 20 unique pop-up stores that offer a diverse array of products.
Shoppers can explore an enticing selection of delectable local foods, handcrafted gifts, and creative artworks, all showcasing the immense talent of local artisans.
The atmosphere is filled with the aroma of holiday treats, laughter, and the joyous sounds of community spirit.
As shoppers meander through the bustling stalls, they not only find perfect Christmas gifts but also take part in a larger mission of support and advocacy.
“It brings a festive mood every year,” Abenir said, adding that, “When you see friends shopping around, supporting our projects, it creates a sense of community. Yes, we are here to raise funds, but it’s the impact of those funds that truly matters. This is our way of making a difference.”
In addition to the bazaar, Zonta Metro Iloilo also showcase various other projects, including an online art exhibit featuring pieces from local and Manila-based artists, further diversifying their fundraising efforts.
The rental fees from participating pop-up stores contribute significantly to the organization’s mission, allowing them to extend their reach and support.
Running from November 17 to 23, 2025, the Zonta Christmas Bazaar stands as not only a beloved holiday tradition but also a beacon of hope within the community.
