BACOLOD City — A total of 82 local government units (LGUs) in the Negros Island Region (NIR) and Panay Island have received Patient Transport Vehicles (PTVs) under the Medical Transport Vehicle Donation Program (MTVDP) of the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO), ensuring wider access to emergency medical care across the regions.
The turnover ceremony was held on November 25 at the Bacolod City Government Center (BCGC) grounds, with the City of Bacolod hosting the event.
The initiative is in line with the directive of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. to equip every province, city, and municipality with PTVs to promote equitable access to life-saving medical transport nationwide.
Of the 82 units distributed, 45 Patient Transport Vehicles (PTVs) were allocated to Region VI, with Aklan receiving seven units, Antique eight, Capiz nine, Iloilo 20, and Guimaras one. Meanwhile, 37 units were allotted to the Negros Island Region, including 22 for Negros Oriental, 11 for Negros Occidental, and four for Siquijor.
PCSO said the distribution demonstrates its strong commitment to improving timely and reliable medical transport services in both densely populated cities and far-flung communities.
“Through these milestones, PCSO reaffirms its dedication to ensuring that every community—from the busiest urban centers to the most remote towns—has access to reliable and lifesaving medical transport,” the agency stated.
The turnover was led by PCSO General Manager Melquiades Robles, together with Bacolod City Mayor Albee Benitez’s representative Mayor Greg Gasataya, city officials, and department heads./PN
