348,117 WV seniors in receive 4th quarter pension

ILOILO — Nearly 350,000 indigent senior citizens in Western Visayas have already received their social pension for the fourth quarter of 2025, the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) reported.

As of Nov. 28, a total of 348,117 seniors across the region have been paid their stipends covering October to December 2025, said Marien Grace Tamonan, head of the Social Pension Unit of DSWD Field Office 6.

Tamonan said the figure represents the bulk of the 385,954 target beneficiaries under the program, amounting to P2,162,475,000 in total assistance released so far.

Here is the breakdown of senior citizens who received their pensions, including the corresponding financial allocations:

* Aklan – 43,103 seniors (P260,109,000)

* Antique – 33,755 seniors (P223,437,000)

* Capiz – 53,932 seniors (P326,011,000)

* Guimaras – 14,175 seniors (P85,542,000)

* Iloilo City – 12,494 seniors (P75,417,000)

* Iloilo Province – 137,696 seniors (P859,116,000)

* Bacolod City – 5,379 seniors (P32,502,000)

* Negros Occidental – 47,583 seniors (P300,351,000)

Tamonan said fund transfers to remaining local government units (LGUs) are ongoing, with the regional office committed to completing the distribution before year-end.

The Social Pension for Indigent Senior Citizens is a flagship social protection program of the DSWD that grants P1,000 monthly cash assistance to eligible seniors.

Qualified beneficiaries include senior citizens who are:

* frail, sickly, or with a disability

* without regular income or financial support

* without pension or any permanent source of income

* living alone or with family members who are also financially incapable./PN
