BACOLOD City – The National Housing Authority (NHA) has released financial assistance to 145 households in Barangay 27 who were affected by the fire that struck the area on September 12.
The payout was conducted on December 4 at the Bacolod City Government Center (BCGC) and was facilitated by NHA personnel.
According to Chelzy Jane Caspe, senior community support services officer of the NHA, 144 households received P30,000 each for totally damaged houses, while one beneficiary received P10,000 for a partially damaged house.
Caspe explained that the master list was based on records submitted by the Department of Social Services and Development (DSSD), which coordinated closely with the agency.
She noted that the release of the assistance took several months due to the validation process and delays brought about by recent typhoons.
The financial aid aims to support the beneficiaries in rebuilding their homes.
“To everyone, our commitment is to continue giving support and helping each other for Barangay 27 to rise again. What is important is to fulfill what we have committed,” Mayor Greg Gasataya said during the payout.
He assured residents that the city government will continue working with national agencies to strengthen recovery and reconstruction efforts.
Last September 25, the city government, through the DSSD, also distributed financial assistance to the same group of fire victims. A total of 144 households with totally damaged houses received P15,000 each, while one household with a damaged house received P10,000./PN
