ILOILO — Nine tribes have officially confirmed their participation in the Kasadyahan sa Kabanwahanan, which will take place on January 24, 2026.
Gilbert G. Marin, head of the Provincial Culture, Arts, History and Tourism Office (PCAHTO), confirmed to Panay News that as of December 3, the following tribes are set to join next year’s cultural showcase:
* Bayluhay Festival of San Joaquin
* Salakayan Festival of Miag-ao
* Kahilwayan Festival of Santa Barbara
* Jimanban Festival of New Lucena
* Pagnahi-an Festival of Bingawan
* Tultugan Festival of Maasin
* Kasag Festival of Banate
* Banaag Festival of Anilao
* Tawili Festival of San Rafael
According to Marin, organizers are expecting up to 10 tribes to join the 2026 competition. One more group is anticipated to submit its formal intent to participate.
The Iloilo Provincial Government, under the leadership of Gov. Arthur Defensor Jr., is set to provide financial assistance to the participating tribes to help enhance and elevate their performances. Marin said tribes may expect the same level of subsidy given in 2025.
Last year, the provincial government allocated subsidies based on town classification: first-class municipalities received P1.5 million, while second-class and lower-class municipalities received P2 million each.
Marin also confirmed that this year’s competing tribes will perform at both the Iloilo Freedom Grandstand and the Iloilo Sports Complex.
In 2025, the Tultugan Festival of Maasin was crowned champion, and it now aims to secure a “grand slam” victory in the upcoming competition./PN
