
NEARLY 600 children from ten Child Development Centers (CDCs) in Pavia, Iloilo experienced joy and holiday cheer through the annual gift-giving initiative of Panay News and the Daniel G. Fajardo Foundation, Inc. (DGFFI) on December 4 to 5, 2025.
The two-day event was more than a charitable gesture — it was a celebration of community spirit, love, and togetherness.
A heartfelt tradition
The gift-giving was part of the lined up activities for the upcoming 45th anniversary celebration of Panay News, highlighting the publication’s long-standing commitment to serving Western Visayas communities.
Children gathered to receive red gift bags filled with treats, their smiles reflecting the joy of simple acts of kindness.
“Christmas is not just about presents; it’s about bringing people together and fostering a sense of belonging,” said Pavia’s Sangguniang Bayan member Daniel “Dan” Fajardo II, who organized the event with his team.





A festive celebration
On December 4, children from barangays Purok 1, 2, 3, 4, Mali-ao, Aganan, Ungka II, and Jibao-an received gifts amid laughter and excitement.
The following day, the tour continued to Anilao and Cabugao Sur, where families shared in the festive atmosphere.

“This initiative reminds everyone that the spirit of giving can illuminate our lives, especially in challenging times,” said SB member Fajardo.
Community gratitude
Daycare workers, parents, and local officials expressed heartfelt appreciation for the annual gift-giving initiative.
Nove C. Surial, a child development worker, shared, “The gifts bring joy to our children. I hope this tradition continues for many more years.”
Likewise, Mariel Buhayan, a parent, expressed her delight: “We are overwhelmed with joy. It’s beautiful to see our children so happy.”
Arvin J. Mirador, a barangay council member, emphasized the event’s impact, saying, “This initiative truly makes a difference in the lives of our children.” Sheryl S. Miado, another child development worker, extended her gratitude for the consistent support from SB member Fajardo, remarking, “Thank you for the consistent support of SB Dan Fajardo.”
