RUFFA Gutierrez is looking forward to celebrating Christmas with her father, veteran actor Eddie Gutierrez, who “will be coming home for the holidays” amid his ongoing medical treatments.
Ruffa said Eddie’s progress has been a “miracle” in an Instagram post on Sunday, December 14, after the latter was brought to Singapore for a spinal procedure, wherein the MRI findings showed an infection.
“It’s been a week since Dad flew to Singapore with Mom and Mond for what we thought was a spinal procedure. Instead, an MRI revealed a serious infection. Everything changed in an instant. Yet in the midst of fear and uncertainty, grace carried us through. In just six days, Dad’s recovery has been nothing short of a miracle,” she said.
While Eddie will return to Singapore for another round of treatments in January, Ruffa is nonetheless thankful since he will be spending Christmas with the family.
The actress also shared some signs of her dad’s health progress, where he can eat and “watch NBA Laker games,” to name a few.
“Dad will be coming home for the holidays, then returning to Singapore in January for two weeks, and again in March for another procedure. One step at a time,” she said. “Like life itself, we take things day by day. As long as there is life, there is hope. We will do everything for our dad.”
“Look at him in October — overwhelmed with pain. And now look at him last night… He’s eating again. His back pain is easing. He’s watching NBA Laker games. He’s singing Elvis Presley songs once more. Thank You, Lord!!!” she continued.
Ruffa also expressed her gratitude to those who have been sending prayers along the way.
“Maraming salamat po sa lahat ng nagdasal, tuwawag, nag message and stood with us every step of the way. Mahal na mahal namin kayo. This will be my last update. Mahigpit na yakap sa lahat ng may pinagdadaanan. You are not alone. Hang in there!” she said.
Eddie was brought to the Mount Elizabeth Hospital Neuro Spine and Pain Center in Singapore to undergo a medical procedure on his spine.
