IPPO nets P7.1-M ‘shabu’ in two days

ILOILO City – The Iloilo Police Provincial Office (IPPO) seized around P7.1 million worth of suspected shabu in two separate buy-bust operations in Iloilo province.

In a report, the IPPO said that personnel of the Provincial Drug Enforcement Unit (PDEU) arrested the suspect known by his alias “Potik,” 40, a resident of Barangay Nanga, Pototan town, at around 5:30 a.m. on Saturday, December 20, in the town’s Barangay Bongco.

Seized from him were 900 grams of the said illegal substance approximately valued at P6,120,000.

Police said the suspect sourced his supply from Metro Manila and distributed it in Pototan and other neighboring towns.

Earlier on Friday night, December 19, police also collared alias “Masoy,” 35, from Barangay Poblacion Ilawod, Sara, Iloilo, during another antidrug operation in Barangay Velasco, Lemery town.

According to Police Captain John Robles of the Lemery Police Station, the suspect yielded around 150 grams of suspected shabu valued at P1 million.

Robles said Masoy was arrested after a month of surveillance, adding that he got his supply from Iloilo City.

Both suspects were detained, facing charges for violation of Republic Act No. 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

On the other hand, IPPO director Colonel Bayani Razalan acknowledged the commendable performance of the PDEU in successfully arresting two drug suspects operating in the province.
