Man dead in hit-and-run in NegOcc town

NEGROS Occidental – A man believed to have a mental disability was found dead after a suspected hit-and-run incident in Sitio Biaren, Barangay Manalad, Ilog, Negros Occidental, early Sunday morning, December 21.

The Ilog Municipal Police Station (MPS) received a report at around 5:25 a.m. from the Ilog Local Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office regarding a male victim of a traffic accident in the area. The incident reportedly occurred minutes earlier.

Ilog MPS officers led by Police Staff Sergeant Shem L. Rio, the duty traffic investigator, immediately proceeded to the scene.

Upon arrival, authorities found the victim’s body lying on the roadside, barely recognizable, indicating that the victim may have been run over by a heavy vehicle.

The victim, who was wearing a brown long-sleeved shirt over a black T-shirt, green short, and blue slippers, remained unidentified, as well as the vehicle involved, as of this writing.

A witness, alias “Joel”, a resident of Barangay Linao, Kabankalan City, told police that the victim had a mental disability and was frequently seen in the area./PN
