ILOILO City — The Iloilo City Government will hold a community fireworks display on December 31 as part of its efforts to ensure a safer and more festive welcome to the New Year.
The event, spearheaded by the Iloilo City MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions) Center, will begin at 11:30 p.m. at the Iloilo Freedom Grandstand and will serve as the highlight of the city’s 2026 New Year’s Countdown.
Mayor Raisa Treñas invited Ilonggos to attend the celebration with their families and loved ones, emphasizing unity and safety as the city ushers in the New Year.
“Bring your families, friends, and loved ones — let us welcome 2026 together in a safer way,” the mayor said.
She added that the New Year also signifies a fresh start for the city.
“As the New Year comes in, it also marks a new beginning for our city. Let us start it together with hope for a year of cooperation toward our continued progress,” Treñas said.
The city’s community fireworks display is an annual tradition and also reflects its support for the Department of Health’s campaign promoting safer and injury-free holiday celebrations.
City officials encouraged residents to join the countdown and opt for organized community celebrations instead of using firecrackers at home, in line with public safety and health advisories./PN
