CAPIZ — Police arrested a suspected drug personality, previously listed as a drug surrenderee, during a buy-bust operation in Barangay Loctugan, Roxas City at around 4 p.m. on January 5.
The suspect, identified only by the alias “Mark,” 39, a resident of the barangay and classified by police as a street-level individual (SLI), was apprehended after allegedly selling illegal drugs to an undercover operative.
Seized from the suspect were six plastic sachets of suspected shabu weighing about 25 grams, with an estimated street value of P170,000, police said.
Authorities said the operation was the result of months of surveillance and intelligence gathering on the suspect’s alleged involvement in the local drug trade.
Barangay Loctugan captain Lilian Cordenillo said the suspect had earlier surrendered under the government’s anti-drug campaign and had undergone barangay monitoring and counseling.
Despite these interventions, Cordenillo said the suspect allegedly returned to illegal drug activities and remained on the watch list of the Barangay Anti-Drug Abuse Council.
Following his arrest, the suspect was brought to the Roxas City Police Station and will face charges for violation of Republic Act 9165 (Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002)./PN
