ILOILO — Police arrested the province’s Top 4 most wanted person in a pre-dawn operation in Mina, Iloilo, capturing a 29-year-old man facing a non-bailable rape case, authorities said.
Operatives of the Iloilo Police Provincial Office (IPPO), backed by units of Police Regional Office 6, arrested the suspect at around 1:33 a.m. on January 10 in Barangay Mina West. The arrest was carried out by virtue of a warrant issued on January 8 by the Regional Trial Court Branch 6.
A resident of Barangay Capul-an, Mina, the suspect is charged with rape by carnal knowledge, a crime for which the court has ordered no bail, underscoring the gravity of the accusation.
Following his arrest, the suspect was turned over to the Mina Municipal Police Station for booking, documentation, and further legal proceedings.
Brigadier General Josefino Ligan, director of the Police Regional Office 6, commended the operating units for the swift and coordinated operation.
“The arrest of a most wanted person for a heinous crime underscores our unwavering commitment to deliver justice and ensure the safety of our communities,” Ligan stressed.
“We will relentlessly pursue offenders, especially those involved in crimes against persons, and make certain that the rule of law prevails,” he added.
PRO-6 reiterated its call for public cooperation in crime prevention and law enforcement.
“We urge the public to continue supporting law enforcement efforts by reporting any suspicious activities or criminal behavior in their neighborhoods,” the police said./PN
