Antique PDRRMC raises blue alert status ahead of TD ‘Basyang’

ANTIQUE — The Antique Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (PDRRMC) has placed its Emergency Operations Center (EOC) under Blue Alert Status effective 12 noon of February 4, in preparation for the possible effects of Tropical Depression (TD) “Basyang”.

The move was formalized through PDRRMC Memorandum No. 07, s. 2026, signed by Governor Paolo Javier, who also serves as PDRRMC chairperson. The memorandum cited the possible imminent threat posed by TD “Basyang,” which is forecast to traverse Panay Island from Friday evening to Saturday morning.

Under the Blue Alert, the PDRRMC EOC has activated Emergency Preparedness and Response (EPR) under BRAVO Protocol, directing all municipal and barangay disaster risk reduction and management councils (M/BDRRMCs) to maintain the same alert level. The directive aims to ensure continuous monitoring, intensified coordination, and heightened operational readiness across the province.

All provincial and municipal DRRMC members, concerned local government units, response clusters, Incident Management Teams (IMTs), and partner stakeholders were also instructed to undertake the highest level of monitoring, reporting, and response coordination, and to strictly adhere to Protocol BRAVO as prescribed in the Disaster Preparedness Manual (Operation LISTO).

The PDRRMC further advised local DRRM offices to implement pre-emptive measures, including pre-emptive or forced evacuation, suspension of high-risk activities, and other appropriate response actions whenever the threat becomes imminent.

Authorities warned that the current Blue Alert status may be escalated to Red Alert in the coming days should TD “Basyang” further intensify or move closer to Panay Island.

Residents are urged to remain vigilant, heed advisories from local authorities, and cooperate with disaster preparedness measures as the weather disturbance approaches./PN
