BACOLOD City — The city government recognized three job order (JO) workers for their honesty and integrity after they returned lost personal belongings to their rightful owners, underscoring Bacolod’s commitment to ethical public service.
During the city’s flag-raising ceremony on Monday, February 9, Mayor Greg Gasataya commended Traffic Enforcer Raymus Tingson of the Bacolod Traffic and Transport Management Department (BTTMD), and Radnie Ortoño and Angelito Morones of the City Enforcement Team under the City Legal Office (CLO), for their exemplary conduct.
“These may seem like small acts to some, but to me, they speak volumes. They remind us that public service is not just about the work we do, but about the values we live by,” Gasataya said. “This is the kind of service our people deserve, and this is the kind of city we continue to build together.”
Tingson was cited for returning a lost wallet containing cash, identification cards, and an ATM card, which he found last week and ensured was returned intact to its owner.
Meanwhile, Ortoño and Morones were recognized for returning a lost cellular phone they found along B.S. Aquino Drive and San Juan Street on January 22, while on their way to lunch. The phone belonged to Janry Sangcaling, a 24-year-old balut vendor from Barangay Banago.
Ortoño said the phone rang shortly after they found it, and the caller turned out to be the owner’s mother. Through the call, they were able to identify Sangcaling and arrange the return of the device.
“I really thought it was all gone. I’m very happy to have my phone back because my GCash, contacts, and almost everything I need are there,” Sangcaling said, adding that he was especially grateful as the recovery happened on his birthday.
City Legal Office Enforcement Team head Atty. Reuben Mikhail Sabig praised Ortoño and Morones, saying their actions reflected the true spirit of government service and should serve as an example to other city employees.
“These are instances that show goodness and honesty, which serve as the core of our government service,” Sabig said.
The three honorees, who have been serving the city for more than three years as job order workers, were cited by city officials as proof that integrity and accountability remain strong within the Bacolod City Government.
