CATRIONA Gray spoke up for the first time about her broken engagement with Sam Milby, recalling how she was “shattered” after the actor realized he was not ready for such a commitment.

The beauty queen-actress opened up about this in a vlog interview with broadcast journalist Karen Davila, which was aired on YouTube Thursday, Feb. 12.

The vlog, however, was apparently removed from the latter’s YouTube channel just hours after it was shared. Clips from the video have been reposted by netizens on social media.

“We were together [for] four years,” Gray recounted after Davila asked what happened to the beauty queen’s previous relationship with Milby.

“There was a point in our relationship where I think he just realized that he wasn’t ready to take it to the stage of commitment that we thought we were on — because he had proposed,” Gray continued. “And then, a few months later, he realized that hindi pala siya ready.”

“So, that was very hurtful for me, and I was really blindsided at the time,” she lamented.

Gray underscored how she exerted effort and made adjustments to make the relationship work, because she genuinely loved Milby.

“Pero it got to a point na, at that age and what we’ve been through, kung hindi ka pa rin sure, I think that’s an answer already,” she said.

She described her decision to give up on the relationship as one of the hardest things she has done, but noted how she had to do so because she had already “given so much.”

“At the end of the day, if it’s not a relationship that is two-way—and also, as a woman, I wanna have a family. I wanna get married and I’d love to be a mom someday. So, I really want a partner who values me and sees that future with me, too. Ayokong ma-wait around for someone to figure out,” she stated.

Gray regarded her heartbreak as a lesson, acknowledging how she struggled to deal with the pain while everyone was bombarding her with questions.

“I was really shattered… I didn’t wanna talk about it kasi ang sakit niya e,” she recalled. “I was so broken that I was just like, ‘Please let me grieve.’”

The beauty queen further revealed how she underwent therapy after the breakup, which she credited for her renewed closeness with her “core group.”

She also clarified that she and Milby are civil, and that they often see each other during events as they are under the same talent management company.

“Now, I’m so much better. I went into therapy for two years,” she disclosed. “It’s just been a really healing journey. I feel like I came back home to myself. The version of me now, I’m the healthiest I’ve ever been.”

“In a way, I see the blessing in the hurt. A year, two years ago, I couldn’t even say that,” she reflected.

Despite how unfortunate her previous relationship turned out, Gray declared that she is still hopeful and that she consistently prays for her future husband.

She also revealed in the interview that she has been dating a non-showbiz guy whose identity was not immediately revealed to the public.

“I definitely believe in love. I think if you have a bad experience with a guy or two, you shouldn’t allow that to reframe or change how you see love,” she told Davila.
