CAPIZ — The Capiz Police Provincial Office (PPO) launched the Rescue Challenge 2026 on March 5 at People’s Park in Barangay Baybay here, aiming to strengthen the emergency response capabilities of police personnel across the province.
The event was attended by local officials, community leaders, and law enforcement personnel, highlighting the collaborative effort to enhance disaster preparedness and public safety.
In his message, Police Colonel Albert D. Tapulao underscored the importance of preparedness and coordination in responding to emergencies. Joined by members of the Command Group and Provincial Staff, Tapulao called for stronger cooperation between law enforcement and local government units to build community resilience against disasters.
Among the distinguished guests were Maayon Mayor Raymond D. Malapajo, representing the League of Municipalities of the Philippines, and Dao Mayor Jose Jimbo D. Barruela.
Malapajo, in his address, stressed the need for strong partnerships in emergency management, urging local government units and law enforcement agencies to work closely together in protecting communities during times of crisis.
The Rescue Challenge 2026 featured a series of activities designed to test and enhance the operational skills of police personnel involved in rescue and disaster response operations.
Participants underwent hands-on exercises simulating real-life emergency situations. These included knot tying for rope handling, basic life support techniques, rescue carries for transporting injured individuals, and boat carries for water-based rescue operations.
Organizers said the activities were designed not only to assess the participants’ technical competencies but also to strengthen teamwork and communication in high-pressure situations — key factors in effective rescue operations.
Through the Rescue Challenge 2026, the Capiz PPO reaffirmed its commitment to public safety by enhancing the preparedness and operational capability of its personnel in responding to emergencies and disasters./PN
