AKLAN — The Provincial Government of Aklan has launched free communication services for families with relatives who are Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) currently deployed in the Middle East.
Through the Office of the Provincial Public Employment Service Manager (OPPESM), in partnership with the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT)–Aklan, families may connect with their loved ones abroad at no cost.
The service is available from Monday to Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., at the Tech4ED Center of DICT Aklan located along Mabini Street, near Daeangpan it Kababayinhan in Kalibo. Designated personnel are on site to assist individuals who wish to communicate with their family members overseas.
Provincial officials said the initiative aims to ease the burden of families seeking timely updates from relatives working in the Middle East, particularly amid ongoing developments in the region.
Meanwhile, OPPESM continues to closely coordinate and monitor updates with the Department of Migrant Workers and the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) to ensure the safety and welfare of Aklanon OFWs.
