ILOILO — A 57-year-old man known by the alias “Rod” was apprehended on March 6 in Barangay Tabucan, Dumangas town, on charges of five counts of statutory rape.
Officers of the Dumangas Municipal Police Station (MPS) in collaboration with the Iloilo Police Provincial’s Provincial Intelligence Unit – Special Operations Group, and the Provincial Highway Patrol Team of the Highway Patrol Group Region 6 executed the arrest at around 12:11 p.m.
The arrest warrant was issued by the Family Court of the Sixth Judicial Region, Branch 6 in Dumangas, on January 20, 2026.
The suspect was detained at Dumangas MPS pending turnover to the court concerned. No bail was recommended for his temporary freedom.
Western Visayas police director, Brigadier General Josefino D. Ligan, lauded the arresting units.
“This operation sends a clear and powerful message: the long arm of the law will always prevail. We remain steadfast in our commitment to ensuring that all wanted persons are brought to justice. It is our duty to protect the vulnerable and uphold the rule of law,” stated Ligan./PN
