BACOLOD City — The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Bacolod City, in partnership with the city government, formally held the turnover and inauguration of the Seal of Good Local Governance–Incentive Fund (SGLG-IF) project titled “FY 2024 Tourism Promotion and Information Drive Program of the City of Bacolod” at the Bacolod City Government Center (BCGC) lobby on April 19.
The initiative highlights the city’s effective utilization of incentive funds earned through its commitment to transparency, accountability, and exemplary local governance.
The project aims to strengthen Bacolod’s tourism sector by enhancing promotional strategies and improving public access to tourism-related information, according to DILG Bacolod City Director Christian M. Nagaynay.
Nagaynay emphasized that the project reflects the city’s sustained dedication to delivering quality public service and upholding good governance standards.
Mayor Greg G. Gasataya underscored the importance of ensuring that all equipment turned over during the ceremony—valued at over P1.96 million—will be used strictly for official government purposes.
The equipment forms part of the incentive awarded to Bacolod City as a 2024 Seal of Good Local Governance (SGLG) awardee, the mayor added.
Gasataya said the funds were allocated to procure tools that will enhance the city’s tourism promotion and information dissemination efforts. He noted that the recognition is a product of responsible governance and sound fiscal management, with its benefits ultimately returning to the people through improved services and increased capacity for public engagement.
John Joseph Vasquez, chief of the Negros Island Region Project Development and Management Unit, highlighted tourism as one of Bacolod’s key economic drivers. He added that investing in promotional equipment will help strengthen service delivery and support the city’s broader development goals.
City Planning and Development Coordinator Dr. Mary Jean L. Ramos assured that all documentary requirements are being processed to ensure compliance and uphold accountability in project implementation.
The ceremony reaffirmed the strong collaboration between the DILG and the Bacolod City Government in advancing sustainable local development.
