BACOLOD City — In response to ongoing water supply disruptions caused by a prolonged dry spell, Mayor Greg Gasataya has launched a dedicated hotline to help residents report concerns and enable faster government action.
The hotline was introduced following a coordination meeting on April 21, 2026, at the Bacolod City Government Center, attended by key city officials and representatives from Baciwa-PrimeWater.
Residents experiencing low to no water supply may call or text 0930-047-8289. All reported concerns will be immediately relayed to the water utility provider for prompt response.
Gasataya said the initiative aims to strengthen monitoring efforts and ensure that affected communities receive timely assistance as supply conditions fluctuate.
Earlier, the mayor instructed the Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (DRRMO) to prepare for water rationing.
Around 15 water tanks, each with a capacity of 2,000 liters, have been readied for deployment to areas experiencing critical shortages.
He has also ordered the intensification of water rationing operations, including the mobilization of additional water tanks and delivery trucks to distribute potable water to severely affected communities.
Baciwa-PrimeWater reported that its current water production has reached 89 million liters per day (MLD) as of April 21.
The utility firm attributed recent gains to operational adjustments that increased output by 4 MLD, with plans underway to add another 3 to 4 MLD within the week. The target is to surpass 90 MLD in total production to help ease shortages across the city.
Despite these improvements, officials emphasized the need to further boost supply and prioritize areas with little to no water access, particularly in Barangays Tangub and Cabug.
The utility firm has also committed to installing 16 additional storage tanks in communities requiring immediate augmentation.
Gasataya has likewise directed PrimeWater to expedite repair works and ensure uninterrupted water delivery, especially during power outages that further disrupt supply systems.
City authorities continue to urge residents to report water-related issues through the hotline as monitoring and response efforts are intensified./PN
