ILOILO City — A 20-year-old pedicab driver allegedly involved in gun running was arrested during an entrapment operation in Barangay Yulo Drive, Arevalo district, on Sunday, April 26.
The suspect, identified as alias “Nathan,” a resident of Barangay Sto. Niño Norte, Arevalo, is now in the custody of Police Station 6. He faces charges for violation of Republic Act 10591, or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act.
Police apprehended the suspect at around 7 p.m. after he allegedly transacted with a police asset to sell a caliber .22 revolver and a holster.
Police Colonel Wilbert Parilla, director of the Iloilo City Police Office (ICPO), stated that the arrest is part of the command’s intensified campaign against loose firearms.
“I told my men to intensify their campaign against loose firearms and continue seeking the support of the community,” Parilla said. “This operation demonstrates our commitment to protecting the public and preventing the use of firearms in criminal activities. Any act contrary to the law is punishable.”
