ILOILO City — A total of seven police personnel have been dismissed from the service so far this year, according to the Police Regional Office 6 (PRO-6).
Records from PRO-6 show that from January to April 2026, 35 police officers were penalized for various administrative offenses. Of this number, seven were dismissed, two were demoted, 23 were suspended, and three were reprimanded.
Major Lailyn Sencil, PRO-6 spokesperson, stated that those dismissed had gone on Absent Without Official Leave (AWOL).
Under National Police Commission (Napolcom) rules and regulations, any police officer who is on AWOL for 30 continuous working days or more shall be dismissed from the service or dropped from the rolls.
“Police personnel who leave the organization without submitting an official leave will be penalized. Kay may ara nga nagkadto outside the country kag wala na nakabalik within 30 days so ma-dismiss gid sila,” Sencil said.
Currently, PRO-6 is assessing and hearing six additional administrative complaints.
PRO-6 director Brigadier General Josefino Ligan emphasized that imposing penalties on erring officers is a vital part of the Philippine National Police’s internal cleansing process. He reminded his personnel to uphold integrity, dedication, respect, and good values to better serve and protect the community.
Conversely, Ligan noted that the command is equally quick to recognize those who perform exceptionally. For this year alone, 103,907 awards and commendations have been granted to dedicated personnel to boost morale and professionalism within the ranks.
“We truly acknowledge the support and cooperation of the community, which is a vital pillar in the success of law enforcement operations and in reporting the negative actions of erring police,” Ligan added./PN
