ILOILO City – The Land Transportation Office Region 6 (LTO-6) continues to ramp up its road safety and law enforcement campaign across Western Visayas. From May 4 to 9, enforcement teams conducted aggressive operations along major national highways in the provinces of Aklan and Antique, resulting in the apprehension of 428 traffic violators.
A key focus of the six-day operation was the elimination of colorum or unauthorized public transport. Authorities flagged and seized four colorum vans that were illegally operating routes to and from Antique.
Law enforcers concentrated on unregistered public utility vehicles (PUVs), unauthorized van operators, and various traffic infractions that jeopardize the safety of commuters and other motorists.
The intensified drive was carried out under the direction of LTO-6 director Atty. Gaudioso P. Geduspan II and assistant regional director Jeck D. Conlu. Personnel conducted random roadside inspections in strategic locations throughout Kalibo and Antique as part of the agency’s sustained crackdown on illegal and unsafe transport operations.
Geduspan emphasized that these sustained operations are essential to restoring road discipline and ensuring strict adherence to national transportation laws./PN
