ANTIQUE — The Provincial Government of Antique will revert to its regular five-day workweek beginning June 15, following the issuance of Executive Order No. 49, Series of 2026 by Gov. Paolo Everardo S. Javier.
The order lifts the implementation of the compressed four-day workweek that had been adopted under Executive Order No. 23, Series of 2026.
Under the new directive, all departments, offices, units, and instrumentalities of the provincial government will resume regular office operations from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday to Friday.
According to the provincial government, the decision was reached after consultations with employees and department heads who raised concerns regarding family responsibilities following the resumption of classes, work efficiency, employee health and welfare, and transportation challenges associated with the compressed work schedule.
The compressed four-day workweek was introduced earlier this year as part of the provincial government’s efforts to reduce energy consumption and operational costs.
Despite the return to the regular work schedule, provincial officials said energy conservation measures implemented under Executive Order No. 23 will remain in effect.
The provincial government noted that the compressed workweek had resulted in significant reductions in electricity and fuel consumption. However, maintaining efficient public service delivery and addressing employee concerns were among the factors considered in restoring the traditional work arrangement.
Energy-saving initiatives will continue in accordance with Memorandum Circular No. 114 of the Office of the President, Republic Act No. 11285 or the Energy Efficiency and Conservation Act, and other relevant issuances of the Department of Energy.
The provincial government advised employees and the public to take note of the restored office schedule and plan their transactions accordingly./PN
