CAPIZ – In a bid to intensify its crackdown on environmental violations, this province’s Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Office (PENRO) confiscated hundreds of board feet of illegal timber and dozens of sacks of charcoal during an enforcement operation on June 17.
The Capiz PENRO Enforcement Team seized approximately 348 board feet of illegally cut forest products and 35 sacks of charcoal. The operation was conducted under the direct supervision of PENR Officer Dr. Ernest C. Federiso.
According to PENRO, the sweep highlights their strict commitment to safeguarding the province’s remaining forest resources, curbing timber poaching, and ensuring full compliance with national environmental laws and regulations.
The newly apprehended forest products have been properly documented and transferred to the Capiz PENRO storage facility for safekeeping. They will be held alongside previously confiscated forest products while awaiting appropriate administrative and legal proceedings./PN
