BACOLOD City — Operatives of the Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) seized approximately P14.1 million worth of suspected shabu and arrested an alleged high-value drug personality during a buy-bust operation in Barangay 3 on July 5.
The BCPO’s City Drug Enforcement Unit (CDEU), in coordination with the City Intelligence Unit (CIU) and Police Station 2, confiscated about 2,075 grams of suspected shabu with an estimated standard drug price of P14,110,000 during the operation in Purok Kamunsil.
The suspect, identified only by the alias “Wayway,” 25, was listed as a High-Value Individual (HVI) under the Barangay Anti-Drug Abuse Council (BADAC).
Police said the operation was launched following intelligence reports linking the suspect to the illegal drug trade in several barangays in Bacolod City. After surveillance and validation, operatives arranged a buy-bust transaction that resulted in his arrest.
Recovered from the suspect were four sachets of suspected shabu, including the buy-bust item, 21 knot-tied transparent plastic bags containing suspected shabu, P6,000 in marked money, and other non-drug evidence.
The suspect is now under the custody of Police Station 2 and will face charges for violations of Sections 5 (sale of illegal drugs) and 11 (possession of illegal drugs) of Republic Act No. 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
Police Brig. Gen. Romano V. Cardiño, director of the Police Regional Office–Negros Island Region (PRO-NIR), commended the operating teams for what he described as another significant accomplishment in the region’s anti-illegal drugs campaign.
“This operation demonstrates our determination to disrupt the illegal drug trade by targeting individuals who continue to endanger our communities. We will relentlessly pursue drug personalities and strengthen our partnership with the public to ensure that offenders are brought before the courts,” Cardiño said.
The PRO-NIR said it will continue to intensify intelligence-driven anti-drug operations, strengthen inter-agency coordination, and encourage community participation through its SAFE NIR Program as part of efforts to dismantle illegal drug networks across the Negros Island Region./PN
