AUTOMOTIVE sales in the Philippines posted double-digit growth in June, with the electric vehicle market taking a bigger share of the monthly sales, a joint report by the Chamber of Automotive Manufacturers of the Philippines Inc. (CAMPI) and Truck Manufacturers Association (TMA) showed.
There were 37,231 units sold in June, up 11% from 33,352 in May, but 8% lower than the 40,483 units recorded in June 2025.
Commercial vehicles accounted for 78.35% of the sales for the month with 29,170 units, while passenger cars made up the remaining 21.65% with 8,061 units.
There were 6,812 units of Asian utility vehicles (AUVs); 21,709 light commercial vehicles; 363 light-duty trucks and buses; 215 medium-duty trucks and buses; and 71 heavy-duty trucks and buses.
There were 6,995 units of electric vehicles sold, reflecting an 18.79% market share — 3,193 battery; 1,681 plug-in hybrid; and 2,121 hybrid.
“This June, we saw sales of both Internal ICE vehicles and xEVs rise. Industry sales of gas and diesel cars grew by 10.0% versus May due to more stable prices, while xEVs grew by 49.2% thanks to improving supply level,” CAMPI president Jose Maria Atienza said in a separate statmeent.
Toyota Motor Philippines Corp. continued to have the biggest share with 17,627 units sold, followed by Mitsubishi Motors Philippines Corp. (MMPC) with 6,535; Suzuki Philippines Inc. (SPI) with 1,532 units; Ford Group Philippines Inc. (FGP) with 1,298; and Honda Cars Philippines Inc. (HCPI) with 1,245 units. (GMA News)
