ILOILO City – An incumbent village councilman was arrested in a buy-bust operation after yielding around P2.2 million worth of suspected shabu in Barangay Ortiz, City Proper district.

The 47-year-old alias “Bulldog,” a resident of the said barangay, was caught at around 3:45 p.m. on Tuesday, July 21, after selling P13,000 worth of alleged shabu to the police poseur buyer.

Personnel from the Iloilo City Police Office’s (ICPO) City Drug Enforcement Unit (CDEU) seized approximately 330 grams of the said illegal substance.

Police Colonel Wilbert Parilla, ICPO director, revealed that the suspect had been placed under close surveillance for several days prior to his arrest.

“Matagal na natin minamanmanan ang kanyang kilos after we received information na nagbebenta siya ng droga,” said Parilla.

The suspect was detained at the Iloilo City Police Station 1, facing charges for violation of Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

Parilla commended the operating units for the successful operation and reiterated a stern warning against anyone involved in the illegal drug trade, regardless of their position in government./PN
