BACOLOD City – North Capitol Road will be temporarily closed to vehicular traffic on Saturday, August 15, to make way for the Bacolod Rum Festival 2026 street party, the Bacolod Traffic and Transport Management Department (BTTMD) announced.
The BTTMD advised motorists to take alternative routes during the road closure, which will coincide with the Rum Dance Street Party starting at 6 p.m.
The street party will feature Zumba sessions, DJs, live bands, street dancing, and other entertainment activities.
According to Bacolod City Secretary to the Mayor Atty. Marty Go, the city is ready for a full day of competitions and entertainment as the festival takes place at the SM City Bacolod North Block and North Capitol Road.
The celebration will start at the SM City Bacolod North Block with a Flair Bartending Competition from 10:30 a.m. to noon, followed by the Bacolod Signature Cocktail Competition from 2 to 4:30 p.m.
Festivities will then move to North Capitol Road in the evening for the free street party.
Festival-goers will also be offered free samples of selected rum products from participating rum companies. Organizers emphasized that rum sampling will be strictly limited to guests aged 18 and above, with responsible drinking encouraged.
Go said the festival aims to celebrate Bacolod’s vibrant culture and hospitality while highlighting the city’s connection to the sugar and rum industry.
