BACOLOD City — A 46-year-old man died after he was allegedly mauled by three male individuals along C.L. Ledesma Avenue in Barangay 2, San Carlos City, Negros Occidental, on September 5.
The victim, identified by authorities as alias “Wendell,” was a resident of Barangay Poblacion, Vallehermoso, Negros Oriental.
Police said the incident occurred at around 6:30 p.m. while the victim was walking along the said road.
According to the police investigation, a witness identified as alias “Johnson,” a crew member of Crispy King, saw the victim being approached and allegedly attacked by three male individuals.
The suspects were identified as alias “Ramram,” 26; alias “Antonio,” a minor; and another unidentified male.
The witness reportedly told police that the attack appeared to be unprovoked.
During the assault, Wendell fell onto the cemented road and suffered a head injury, causing him to lose consciousness.
The suspects then fled the area in an unknown direction.
Personnel of the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO) responded and transported the victim to the San Carlos City Hospital for medical treatment.
Despite medical intervention, the attending physician later declared Wendell dead.
Police are continuing their investigation to determine the identity and whereabouts of the other individuals allegedly involved in the fatal mauling./PN
