BACOLOD City — A 20-year-old alleged high-value drug personality was arrested and about 65 grams of suspected shabu worth an estimated P442,000 were seized in a buy-bust operation in Barangay 2, Bacolod City, police said.
The operation was conducted by personnel of Police Station 2 of the Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO), with support from the City Drug Enforcement Unit (CDEU) and the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA)-Negros Island Region Regional Special Enforcement Team, on Sept. 7 at Purok Lampirong.
The suspect, identified by police as alias “Leo,” is single, unemployed and a resident of Purok Lampirong, Barangay 2.
According to the Police Regional Office-Negros Island Region (PRO-NIR), a confidential informant reported that Leo was allegedly involved in the delivery of illegal drugs in barangays Bata, Mandalagan, 2 and nearby areas of the city.
Police conducted casing and surveillance operations to validate the information and monitor the suspect’s alleged activities.
With the assistance of the confidential informant, a transaction was facilitated, leading to the buy-bust operation following the alleged consummation of the drug sale.
Recovered during the operation were one plastic sachet of suspected shabu believed to be the buy-bust item, two knot-tied packets and three plastoc sachets of suspected shabu allegedly in the suspect’s possession, and the P500 buy-bust money.
Police said the suspect was informed of his constitutional rights and the provisions of the Anti-Torture Act in a language he understood.
The seized items were marked, inventoried and documented in the presence of the suspect and required witnesses, police said.
The suspect remained under the custody of Police Station 2 for the filing of appropriate charges.
PRO-NIR director Brigadier General Rudecindo L. Reales said police would continue to intensify intelligence-driven operations against illegal drugs.
“We will remain relentless in our fight against illegal drugs. Every operation must be deliberate, intelligence-driven, and focused on protecting our communities,” Reales said.
He added that police would continue pursuing individuals allegedly involved in illegal drug activities while strengthening law enforcement efforts to ensure safer communities.
