PASSI City – One of Philippine volleyball’s biggest rivalries comes to Iloilo today as powerhouse sister teams Creamline Cool Smashers and Choco Mucho Flying Titans clash in the Rebisco Sisterhood Showdown 2026 at the City of Passi Arena.
The exhibition showdown, set at 5 p.m., brings the popular “Team Pink” and “Team Purple” rivalry closer to Western Visayas fans in a rare meeting outside the Premier Volleyball League (PVL) calendar.
Creamline and Choco Mucho have emerged among the country’s most followed volleyball clubs, making their Passi City encounter a major attraction expected to draw supporters from Iloilo and neighboring provinces.
“The Ilonggo volleyball fans were very much looking forward to this as this was an opportunity for them to be closer to their volleyball idols again,” Gametime Sports founder Rodolfo Go Villaruz told Panay News.
The volleyball festivities began Thursday night with the Sisterhood Showdown Fan Meet at the West Visayas State University Cultural Center in Iloilo City, allowing supporters to interact with players ahead of today’s match.
The Passi City exhibition is part of efforts to bring top-level volleyball beyond Metro Manila and give provincial fans, particularly aspiring young athletes, a closer look at some of the country’s premier volleyball players.
While no PVL standings or championship stakes are on the line, the encounter also serves as part of the two teams’ buildup for the PVL All-Filipino Conference next month.
Creamline enters the coming tournament as the reigning All-Filipino champion and will use the exhibition to sharpen its form following its campaign in the PVL Invitational Conference.
The Cool Smashers settled for fourth place in the Invitational Conference after bowing to the PLDT High Speed Hitters in the battle for third place.
For Iloilo volleyball fans, however, today’s match is less about the result and more about seeing two of Philippine volleyball’s biggest crowd-drawers renew their rivalry on Ilonggo soil./PN
