ILOILO — Fire destroyed an ancestral house in Zone 3, Barangay Botong, Oton, Iloilo, past 2 p.m. on Saturday, September 12.
Raul Talaman, one of the residents, shared that he saw flames suddenly burst from the ceiling of the ancestral house owned by the Genovatin family. The fire spread rapidly through the structure made of concrete and light materials.
According to a DYRI RMN Iloilo report, an electrical fault may have triggered the blaze, though arson investigators from the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP)-Oton were still conducting a full investigation to confirm the exact cause as of this writing.
BFP-Oton, meanwhile, pegged the damage at over P1 million./PN
