PRO-6 accounts for 135 firearms in 24 hours

ILOILO City – The Police Regional Office 6 (PRO-6) accounted for 135 firearms and five explosive devices within a 24-hour period across Western Visayas.

Data from PRO-6 revealed that from 6 a.m. on September 11 to 6 a.m. on September 12, police units conducted 125 operations targeting unlicensed and unregistered firearms. The total yield included 131 voluntarily surrendered guns, three seized during operations, and one deposited pending license renewal. Five explosive devices were also turned over to law enforcement.

During the same one-day drive, police arrested 16 wanted persons – four involved in heinous crimes and 12 facing lesser offenses.

PRO-6 likewise maintained a zero-crime record across all eight focus crimes in the region on the same day. The eight focus crimes are murder, homicide, physical injury, rape, robbery, theft, carnapping, and motornapping.

PRO-6 director Brigadier General Randulf Tuaño credited the success to intensified police visibility, mobile and foot patrols, checkpoint operations, intelligence gathering and validation, and quick response to crowded areas such as business establishments, transport terminals, and tourist destinations.
