BACOLOD City – A city government casual employee found a bag at the back of the Bacolod City Government Center yesterday.
The bag contained cash (dollar and Philippine peso currencies), a tablet computer and an identification card with the name Than Dhahi Mubarak Al-Alawi.
The 33-year-old Raffy Cordero turned it over to Mayor Evelio Leonardia but not before reporting it to the Public Order and Safety Office.
Cordero, a resident of Barangay Estefania working at the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office, said he was having a snack that afternoon when he saw the bag at the parking area.
Suspicious, he told a fellow employee about it and asked for help in retrieving it.
Cordero said he did not intend to keep or hide the bag.
“It was the third time recently that I have found a lost item,” he said.
According to the casual worker, he has previously found a wallet on a street and another one in a mall. He said he turned them all over to the authorities because he knows their owners were looking for them.
“I feel happy when I return lost items,” said Cordero./PN
