BACOLOD City – Suspected shabu worth P50,000 were seized from two men at a checkpoint yesterday in Barangay 4, Himamaylan City, Negros Occidental.
Adrian Gariando, 36, and Marvin Cabillon Torres, 28 — both of Barangay Aguisan, Himamaylan City — were arrested.
Superintendent Antonieto Cañete, Himamaylan City police chief, said they set up the checkpoint after receiving a tip that Gariando and Torres were bringing illegal drugs from Kabankalan City.
When the men on board a motorcycle arrived around 12:30 p.m., police said they asked for a driver’s license but caught Gariando trying to hide a sachet of suspected shabu by inserting it between the gas tank and the seat.
Police seized from them a big sachet and a small sachet of suspected shabu and an improvised tooter./PN
