SAN JOSE, Antique – A total of 35,981 more people are living in Antique, a new government census showed.
Based on the 2015 Census of Population, the province has a population of 582,012, up from the 546,031 in the 2010 Census.
“The population increased by 1.22 percent annually on average from 2010 to 2015,” said Provincial Statistics Officer Jesus Escote Jr.
Of the 18 municipalities, this capital town had the biggest population with 62,534.
Rounding out the top five most populous towns were Sibalom, with 60,306; Hamtic, 48,592; Culasi, 41,228; and Patnongon, 37,176.
Today the Philippine Statistics Authority will present the 2015 Census of Population data in a program here that will include the launch of the agency’s website.
Escote said the 2015 Census showed Region 6 has a population of 4,447,247, and the entire Philippines, 100,981,437.
The 2015 Census was conducted in August 2015 pursuant to Republic Act 10625, or the Philippine Statistical Act of 2013, to generate data that government and private entities may use in formulating policies and programs.
More than 700 enumerators and supervisors gave out questionnaires in Antique for the Census of Population. (PIA/PN)
