MANILA – The Pocari Sweat Lady Warriors and the Bureau of Customs Transformers begin their chase for the Shakey’s V-League Season 13 Reinforced Conference crown in Game 1 of the best-of-three finals tonight at the Philsports Arena in Pasig City
Game time is at 6:30 p.m. as the Lady Warriors guns for its second title after ruling the Open Conference, while the Transformers is aiming to move a step closer to clinching its first Shakey’s V-League championship right on its first conference in the league.
Lady Warriors head coach Rommel Abella said, even if they are being tipped as the favored team in the series, they still can’t overlook the Transformers as it is also composed of veteran players
“We are ready for the finals,” said Abella. “However, we cannot also discount our opponent kasi puro beterano rin ang mga players nila kaya kailangan din namin silang paghandaan.”
Transformers head coach Sherwin Meneses, for his part, said they are up for a huge challenge against the Lady Warriors, which scored a victory against them in the eliminations round.
“We’re the underdogs in this series,” said Meneses. “For us to beat them (Lady Warriors), we have to play solid in reception and blocking ‘yun ang paghahandaan namin sa ensayo.”
Leading the way for the Lady Warriors are reinforcements Katherine Morrell and Andrea Kay Kacsits, along with local players Michelle Gumabao, Myla Pablo, Elaine Kasilag and Iris Tolenada.
Bannering the Transformers, on the other hand, are Thai imports Kanjana Kuthaisong and Natthanicha Jaisaen, as well as locals Alyssa Valdez, Rose Marie Vargas, Pauline Soriano, Lilet Mabbayad, and Jonalyn Ibisa.
The Lady Warriors advanced to its second straight finals after sweeping the University of Santo Tomas Golden Tigresses, while the Transformers came up with a come-from-behind victory over the Bali Pure Water Defenders./PN
