BACOLOD City – Two police officers from Negros Occidental were dismissed from the service.
Police Officer 1 Richard Suarez and Police Officer 1 Ruby Martinez were assigned at the provincial police office.
Suarez was found guilty of grave misconduct for refusing to take a drug test at Camp Alfredo Montelibano Sr. on March 10, 2015.
Martinez, on the other hand, was guilty of serious neglect of duty and being absent without official leave (AWOL).
He failed to report for duty during the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation Ministerial Meeting in Boracay and incurred 27 days of absences from May 4 to 30, 2015.
Chief Superintendent Renato Gumban, regional police director, approved their dismissal on Nov. 11.
In October three officers from the Bacolod City Police Office were dismissed from the service for similar offenses.
They were Wenefredo Casuyon, Ryan Lumogdang and Jemar Harder — all Police Officers 1.
Casuyon was guilty of grave misconduct for getting involved in stealing a borrowed motorcycle of a police trainee in September 2014.
Grave neglect of duty and being AWOL led to Harder’s dismissal.
Lumogdang tested positive in a drug test in April 2015. He was found guilty of grave misconduct.
They were removed from the Philippine National Police roster effective Sept. 29 but received their dismissal order on Oct. 3./PN
