BACOLOD City – A Roman Catholic church leader believes the Marcoses deceived the Filipinos for sneakily burying the late dictator Ferdinand Marcos Sr. at the Libingan ng mga Bayani on Friday.
They disrespected the motion for reconsideration against the Supreme Court ruling that allowed the burial at the Heroes’ Cemetery, according to Reverend Father Felix Pasquin, San Sebastian Cathedral rector.
“I’m sorry if I use the word deception, but it looks like it truly is (deception),” said Pasquin, also the Diocese of Bacolod social communications head.
“They manifested disrespect for the motion for reconsideration (still) filed before the Supreme Court,” he stressed.
Civil society groups held an “indignation rally” against the Libingan burial, at the Fountain of Justice at the old city hall on Friday.
Pasquin quoted a biblical passage: “The children of this world are more clever than the children of light [sic].”
“The Marcoses really have one over us,” he said.
According to the priest, young Filipinos must be “sensitive” and “learn the lessons of history.”
“We count especially on the young to … rectify what needs to be corrected,” Pasquin stressed./PN
