ILOILO City – This holiday season be wary of robbers, budol-budol swindlers, petty street criminals such as pickpockets and snatchers, among others, the Iloilo City Police Office (ICPO) warned the shopping public.
“We know these lawless elements take advantage of the holiday season. Dapat prepare tayo,” said Senior Superintendent Remus Zacharias Canieso, city police director.
He gave a practical tip to avoid being victimized by budol-budol swindlers: “Do not talk to strangers.”
Before leaving the house, homeowners must make sure their gates, doors and windows are securely locked, said Canieso.
The ICPO will be deploying more police officers to places where many people converge – malls, seaports, land transport terminals, churches, and the downtown area.
“We will increase police visibility,” said Caneso, to discourage lawless elements from operating.
More police officers will be doing field work instead of performing administrative duties inside police stations, he added.
