BACOLOD City – Councilor Sonya Verdeflor wants the City Administrator’s Office to give an update on the planned rehabilitation of the Vendors’ Plaza at the Reclamation Area.
Verdeflor filed a resolution to formalize the request. The Sangguniang Panlungsod approved the resolution last week, she said.
According to Verdeflor, City Administrator John Orola earlier claimed the city government plans to clean and “humanize” the Vendors’ Plaza.
City hall wanted to relocate some fish vendors temporarily posted along Ballesteros Street to the Vendors’ Plaza while the Burgos, Central and Libertad public markets are being rehabilitated, she said.
Orola also claimed the city government will build comfort rooms and put up lighting fixtures, establish terminals and reroute jeepneys to let them pass by the area, said the councilor.
She also cited Orola’s claim that included in the plan is the establishment of “a nursery, a children’s playground and a resting place for senior citizens.”
He “hoped” to have all these built “before the MassKara Festival” in October, said Verdeflor./PN
