BACOLOD City – This city is considering a “sisterhood” with another city in Argentina.
This was what Mayor Evelio Leonardia and Argentinean Ambassador to the Philippines Roberto Bosch discussed in the former’s office Monday, Dec. 5.
Leonardia said it was the ambassador who suggested “[exploring] the possibility,” and he welcomed it.
He hopes Bosch’s visit will lead to a formal tie-up between Bacolod and an appropriate Argentine city.
A “long time ago,” Leonardia said he stayed in Argentina for several weeks for a group study.
Bosch wanted to go around the city some more, he told a news conference at the Bacolod City Government Center.
Impressed during his first-time visit, the ambassador said he knew why Bacolod is called the “City of Smiles.”
Before heading to Bacolod, Bosch first visited Negros Occidental governor Alfredo Marañon Jr., from whom he learned how the city and the province work, a “curious” case for him, who was from a federal country.
Leonardia invited the ambassadors to return to Bacolod for the MassKara Festival in October 2017./PN
